What attracted me Penny Siopis was that the majority of her works are very obscure and layered with metaphors. The images that she presents are not those of the generalized South African style. …the idea that there is a script to everything, and either things pan out or they don't. But like all plays, they can be changed. Siopis' style is conceptual. I feel it is messy and loose, but even through the chaos of it all; there is expression, idea and importance in her work. She is a very dynamic artist who uses an intriguing range of media to create powerful, and very personal pieces of art.
