…and the mead hall was once again the greatest of its time. The token of the battle, Grendel's claw was hung in the gabled hall as a souvenir of the great battle. Beowulf was granted with gold and many treasures and he was praised by all the thanes of Hrothgar. My heart proved to be true even though I sensed great fear, and I saw for myself the great battle which slayed the grim monster.
