Characters,social commentary and message about society in Wilde's play "The Importance of Being Earnest"

…can't possibly be honest without sounding crass. rude, or just plain mean. These characters speak their minds, much of the time with a highly humourous effect. Wilde's message about society is the ridiculousness of class differentiation. He shows us that in an instant, a person can go from being a nobody to a somebody (If that is true, wouldn't the converse be true also?). Social snobbery is an affront to those of the working class.
