Childhood Memory When I was 10 years old, I visited the Bedford County fair. For something so simple and unsophisticated, it held a world of amazement for me. There were the smells of the cotton candy, snow cones and funnel cake along the concession stand area. …actually join the 4-H club and have a cow of my own. But, the thought of trying to keep a cow in my backyard in our rural neighborhood kept me from fulfilling that dream. I never did own my own cow, nor did I ever experience that kind of attraction to bovines again in my life. But for a couple of days in the summer of my 10th year, I was a real life cowgirl.
