It is about the downfall of a hero who is led by temptation to mass murder and cruelty. The importance of this change was to explore what can happen to someone who chooses evil and blindly submits to the temptation of ambition which starts the end of relationships and friendships and continues until total self-destruction because that person realizes there is no point in living and realizes exactly how much of a stranger they have become to themselves.
