Do animals posses intellegence?

Do animals possess intelligence? This is a very controversial question, similar in nature to the age-old question. What came first, the chicken or the egg? What is intelligence? Intelligence is the capacity to acquire and apply knowledge, as well as the faculty of thought and reason. …like the tiger, that I covered a full spectrum of animals. I have two cats and I play with them everyday. I cannot help but notice that they learn, and remember things that shape their characters everyday. They may chase a toy around the couch one day, but the next day they remember that if they go the opposite direction, they can catch the toy even quicker. Yes, I believe that animals do possess intelligence.
