Essay On William Wordsworth's Poem London, 1807

William Wordsworth's poem about England and how great it used to be. The writer actually explains how it had a natural endowment of wealth and power and how it changed into a country full of selfish men. He goes even further, begging the deceased John Milton, an English poet and political writer, saying, "Raise us up, return to us again." He further explains what he wants to return. Wordsworth wants manners, virtue, freedom, power, everything …

…Both of them are set up as monologues with long sentences that run across stanzas. Each poem rhyme and rhythm which helps make the poem easier to remember. It also shows how the writer would have read it the recipient. The classic language in the poems really helped with my enjoyment while reading them. I have always enjoyed reading the classic language, it almost seemed that the old style way of speech is like poetry.
