In the novel, Lord of the Flies, many apparent themes are presented by William Golding. We were assigned the task of finding song lyrics that contained themes parallel to those found in chapter eight, Gift for the Darkness. The song that eventually concluded our search was ?Get a Life? by Pennywise. These themes included corrupt leadership, group procrastination, and societal decline; however, many other themes exist within the boundaries of chapter eight, which we did not touch on. To gain a better appreciation for the literary qualities contained within a novel, thoughtful analysis must be applied; therefore, our essay should only serve as a guideline, not necessarily a correct dissection of the books inner workings.
