In conclusion the play "The Shoe-Horn Sonata" is not only a text about the suffering of POW but is one which successfully evokes the very essence of the human spirit, especially the will to survive. It cleverly employs the use of dialogue, music, visual devices and uses the structure of the play to successfully achieve this.
