Galileo pushed the world into an age of scientific scrutiny and left the Church little option but to comply. We live in an age where everything we are told we question scientifically, where in downtown Montreal churches are being turned into condos. Obviously Galileo is not responsible for everything but we undeniable have to credit him with making the first step in liberating science from the theological constraints it once faced.
