In my opinion, The Glass Menagerie exposes the lost dreams of a southern family and their desperate struggle to escape reality. …the search for happiness is not one of the past. It is very present in our society. We all somehow and someway hold on to a symbol that represents and reminds us of something. Laura had her glass collection but to everyone else whether it be a beanie baby collection, favorite sports team paraphernalia, or a shoe fetish, they give us meaning and a feeling of belonging and identity that help us get through today.
