History of Harlem

Harlem is one of the most unique neighborhoods in New York. It is known as a major African-American cultural and business center. It runs from 110th Street, the East River, 168th St., Amsterdam Ave, and Morningside Park. The first European settlement in what is now called Harlem was made by Dutch settlers. The Apollo Theatre, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, Dance Theater in Harlem, and the Museum of the City of New York are a few main attributes in Harlem that depict the culture. It exemplifies the diversity that was initiated by the Harlem Renaissance. Harlem is one of New York's unique areas to live in.
