…monstrate the main components of a successful marriage. There are many instances of uncanny resemblances between the two novels. Both heroines see apparitions before their death, both protagonists, Anna and Emma, realize the stupidity of killing themselves. I believe that the resemblance between both novels is evident. I find it curiously interesting how they both see apparitions that represent everything they hoped not to become before dying. Their ill-conceived pursuit of happiness ends in tragedy.
