How the Length of a Wire Affects its Resistance
How the Length of a Wire Affects Its Resistance In my physics coursework I am going to investigate the effect of the length of a wire on its resistance. Resistance is the measure of how easy it is for current to flow through a wire. Current is the rate of flow of charge through a conductor, and it is measured in amps using an ammeter. To help me plan my investigation I have completed a
readings from a length of exactly 80cm, or 100cm, or whatever the length of wire to be tested is. To improve and extend my investigation I would perform the experiment on wires of different materials to see whether they all follow the same pattern, and I would also investigate whether non-metallic conductors follow the same pattern or whether it is different for them and their resistance does not increase in direct proportion with their length.
