How well does the novel Great Expectations fit into the Bildungsroman Genre?

The term Bildungsroman is generally applied to a novel about education (in the wide sense), and all round self-development. Most of the best examples of Bildungsroman genre are German. He also realizes how superficial the social classes were in the Victorian era. The book is written from Pip's point of view. The novel it's self is Pips own assessment of his maturing. To concluded; Pip's story is a perfect example of a Bildungsroman. Great Expectations is truly a novel about self-development.
