Upon researching self-help books sales in 2001, self-help book titles amounted to 2.6% of all new titles but in terms of sales, amounted to 5.7%. The success of self-help book authors such as Dr. Phil McGraw is also a testament to our need for guidance and apparent lack of confidence.
