Justice

Justice is blind. It cannot see the truth. The truth that I am innocent. Wrongly accused of a callous murder. There I stood in the middle of a courtroom surrounded by strangers. Strangers who are just about to decide whether I am worthy of a descent life or not. Thoughts were racing through my head. What would my family think? What would become of my children? …myself with no escape, or was there? The shadows became longer, as the sun set. I undid my belt and tied it to one of the bars on top of the door. I stood on my chair and tied the belt around my neck. "You won," I said quietly to myself. I kicked the chair out from underneath me. The prison had beaten me, the real murderer had won, I had lost. Justice is blind.
