…The third paragraph contains a magic realism that is found throughout the novel, the ridiculous amounts of tears she produced when crying. The tears were so many that after they evaporated they left behind "enough salt to fill a ten-pound sack". I'm not sure if this crosses the line between magic realism and exaggeration, as the amount of salt left behind is just way too much, not even a new born baby weighs that much.
