Look at the history of psychology and explain how the five different schools developed.

Psychology is an extensive subject, where learning can be applied to all aspects of an individual and society. The name psychology derives from Greek, Psyche meaning the mind, soul, spirit, and Logos meaning study, (Gross, 2001, p4). All the approaches do provide different factors that are all working towards promoting good mental health but they are also shown to be very deterministic and reductionist with the exception of the humanistic approach, which takes into account the different approaches and more importantly free will. As the subject is still relevantly young, there may be in the not too far future, a complete holistic and eclectic approach to this ever-expanding subject.
