Luddites
The Luddites violent disturbances broke out in Yorkshire in 1812 over the development of factory machines. These machines were used to produce wool. Wool was a stable industry for England. All life and work revolved around it. Not only were the new machines more convienent, but they were able to produce in 1 day what used to take 1 week. Although these new machines helped to improve the British economy by getting things done more efficiently, they were

Although the Luddites tried to regain control over their lives by getting their job's back, they failed. Several of them were executed. Even at their public executions, the Luddites were not seen as criminals by the peole of England, but were shown respect by others who felt that they did what they had to for the welfare of their families.
