Nineteen Eighty-Four: "It would be easier for the State to kill Winston. Why does it take the trouble to 'cure' him?"

Nineteen eighty-four by George Orwell is a novel that primarily focuses on the way the State is able to control the minds of party members. …in a sense that he would not be able to think for himself again due to the immense control the Party had over its people. Releasing Winston back into society after curing him of his hatred towards Big Brother allowed the Party to gain more control which is usually the priority of totalitarian societies. By continuing to maintain their power, the Party did not kill Winston but did kill Winston's hope of a free life.
