…audience realizes that Romeo faces a love which appears to be gentle but 'rough' in reality. Romeo uses oxymorons in his speech which allow the audience to foreshadow how confused Romeo is in his love. Shakespeare's punning or play on words adds comedy to the play. Since the language used in the play is very old fashioned, the audience may not realize where Shakespeare's lines of comedy are unless they, the audience, read the script.
