I feel that Ebonics should not be recognized as a new language, because it derives mostly from English, and has features that resemble the Standard English. The original version of English would be lost, and other English-speaking countries would start using this mixed language, as the U.S.A. can affect the world significantly by accepting Ebonics and using it on the media and in international affairs. My understanding is that Ebonics should be recognized only as a dialect (leave it as it is today), while respecting its cultural value, so that it will not be forgotten.
