…In fact, towards the end of the play, Macbeth almost seems gratified and relieved when things begin to fall apart. Through the murder of Duncan and his guards, Banquo, and Macduff's family, Macbeth seals his own doomed fate. He is the only person responsible for his demise. Not only that, but he is a prime example of the terrible effects that ambition and guilt can have on a man that lacks the strength of character.
