Study of Shylock in Shakespeare's 'The Merchant Of Venice'

In Shakespeare's play The Merchant of Venice, Shylock, a wealthy Jew is one of the main characters. During the play his merciless and uncompassionate nature is revealed. He seeks the life of another man because all he wants is revenge. I do not feel sorry for Shylock at all because of his selfishness and disregard for other people. …call me dog:" There is no doubt that Shylock has suffered at the hands of others and has been the victim of prejudice, but this has only made him bitter and vengeful. He sees only his own misfortune and has no regard for the feelings of others. He is unable to show any mercy or compassion for others even his own daughter when given the chance and so I cannot feel any sympathy for him.
