The Canterbury Tale's View On Marriage

Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales demonstrate many different attitudes toward and perceptions of marriage. Some of these ideas are very and others are more liberal. While several of these tales are rather comical, they do indeed give us a representation of the attitudes toward marriage at that time in history. …protect and keep order. Through Pertelote's eyes, marriage will only prosper if the husband is bold and true to his word. Through his differential tales, Chaucer exposed different views on marriage. He would express in one chapter how the female should be dominant and then in the next claim that marriage should be equally balanced. There seems not to be one set path. Chaucer merely showed the general views of different people in his society.
