Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales demonstrate many different attitudes toward and perceptions of marriage. Some of these ideas are very and others are more liberal. He would express in one chapter how the female should be dominant and then in the next claim that marriage should be equally balanced. There seems not to be one set path.
