The Escape from Nothingness

… have once been like the young waiter. They may have once known a sense of purpose or meaning for their lives and their surroundings. Now, the only purpose to their lives is delaying the nothingness they realize when they are alone and in the dark; a nothingness that can only be escaped by filling the emptiness of having no beliefs with artificial light and order which provides asylum from the meaninglessness of everything.
