The Odyssey and the Greek Concept of Hero.

The meaning of the term "hero" has been debated since the beginning of time itself. However, the Geek conception"hero" has laid the foundation of how modern man defines "hero."According to Overfeild, the concept of the Greek hero is accented by his "virtues of personal honor, bravery, and loyalty to ones comrades" (50). …and quite bleak. Obviously, Achilles no longer has pride in who he is. Also, he comes off as having no personal honor-an important characteristic to a Greek hero. He immediately wants to change the subject and talk about his son. It becomes obvious that Achilles is miserable in his present state. He no longer exemplifies the virtues of personal honor, bravery, or loyalty to his comrades. These are the characteristics that make a Greek hero.
