We have all had time in our lives where greed and obsession for things to grant our desires can destroy our lives, mainly because we do not always act the way people want us to. …it, also with other conflicts brought into his life. In John Steinbeck's The Pearl, Kino forgets what is most important to him in his life, when he absorbs the obsession of the Pearl. He has a wife, a son, friends and a village that is like his family. When he finds the pearl, he becomes greedy, and selfish, which causes Kino to lose his friends, his family and most importantly, his definite place in society.
