The Elizabethan era was a great one for the theatre and performing arts. There were numerous playwrights who contributed a lot of great works. A lot of the wonderful plays that are performed today came from this Renaissance period. Also, lots of movies and television shows are based on plays from this time. Even though only Shakespeare's work is performed today, the other authors wrote brilliant pieces. Without the Elizabethan era, we would not have had as many of the movies, television shows, plays, and books taken from plays written back then. The playwrights of the 16th century have made a huge contribution to our theatre today.
