…wild atmosphere. Heavy rain is often used in horror stories to make chaotic and unbalanced mood. In contrast to the commotion of the storm, it is complete darkness in the murder chamber. Darkness increases tension and fear as people are vulnerable to danger in the dark. The key similarity in both stories is that the true horror is portrayed in only one room in each building - the 'red room' and the murder chamber respectively.
