The role played by fate or chance in the love affair of Romeo and Juliet.

At the very beginning of the play we hear of fate 'a pair of star-crossed lovers'. This implies that from the very beginning, the young couple were destined to fall in love and then die. …of frustration when reading 'Romeo and Juliet' because it seems they were only brought together to die together and to bring the families together. Even though they have died their love has triumphed and helped bring about the end of the feud between the Capulets and Montagues. It also shows us that neither the church nor the state could bring the two families together only a 'greater power' fate and their deaths could do it.
