The stage direction of the character of Macbeth.

The character of Macbeth changes very dramatically throughout the play. At the beginning of the play - Act 1, Scene 7, Macbeth struggles with his conscience, over whether or not to go through with the murder of Duncan. He would be irritant and impatient, treating people like dirt just for the crown. By now he is completely corrupted by pure ambition and has no other reason for living, except for the crown, so he is prepared to die fighting, defending it, as he has nothing else in his life worth living for.
