The three central protagonists in Enduring Love could be said to represent science, art and religion. In the light of this statement, how far does this count for the conflict between the characters?

But do they agree to disagree because of their love, or do they love because they agree to disagree on what makes up their whole livelihoods? I wonder if love is the only force which can completely bridge these ideas which are diametrically opposed?
