During this time, American leaders learned from the mistakes of failed and overthrown governments and chose moderation between two political poles in order to form a government that has withstood the test of two centuries and, if its values are upheld, has the potential for many more. The greatest American revolution was not fought on a battlefield but in meeting halls with reason as its veterans' only weapon.
