…of male acceptance, women pay a pivotal role in Ibo society. The are mothers, wives, homemakers, and companions. These women have to remain strong to tolerate such mistreatment. They quietly endure abuse, both mental and physical, and unfair double standards, while maintaining a household. Though the men in this Nigerian village display no appreciation from the women in their clan, I have a deep respect for any women who survives such a way of life.
