Sindbad is part of a collection of stories called the Arabian Nights or the 1001 Nights translated by Robert Dawood. This helps reinforce the romance qualities of Sindbad the Sailor. Sindbad is seen as a model Middle Eastern romance hero. Even through a European point of view, he still may be seen as a daring "knight". Sindbad possibly is braver than King Arthur of Camelot, King Richard the Lionhearted, or Charlemagne of France.
